Background

The aim of the project is to improve the development and well-being of children in the early childhood (0-7 years) in Bulgaria by introducing an integrated health and social approach to their care.

The project is funded by the OAK Foundation.

Project of the Year of a Non-Governmental Organization in the Social Sphere 2018

Practice

Activities include fieldwork to improve the resources of 3 healthcare facilities and 3 social services in Sofia and Plovdiv; activities to study the impact of health, social and educational systems on the care and security of children at an early age, and advocacy to support the process of developing a national integrated policy for early childhood development. Within the framework of the last activity, Alliance for Early Childhood Development was created - a union of 50 members (civil organizations and individuals), which work to promote early childhood development as a political and public priority. The Alliance has a key advocacy role in the field of early child development in Bulgaria and a consultative role in the process of setting up the Early Childhood Development Strategy.

Results

With this project, For Our Children Foundation supported the improvement of the policy and practice regarding the early child development in Bulgaria and helped the partnership and the coordination between the care systems in the best interest of the child.
