2009/06/15: Successful Work
72 representatives of NGOs and municipal administrations from the South Central Planning Region participated in the first Round Table under the FLGR "NGOs - Reliable Partners For Development" Project in Plovdiv, 12 June 2009. This was the first working meeting in a series of three round tables.
The topic the round table was dedicated to the topic "The citizen impact on local policies - forms of direct citizen participation".
The opening presentation introduced the good governance principles and the role of NGO sector in their application at local level.
Successful practices, using diverse instruments for citizen participation, were presented:
- Local referendum in the Municipality of Pomorie - the first successful local referendum in Bulgaria;
- The Community Forum approach in formulating and implementation of local policies on cultural and historical heritage of the municipalities of Smolyan and Zlatograd;
- Youth policies in the small municipalities - Gurkovo, Nikolaevo and Maglizh; and
- The work of the Community council in the mayoralty of Kalofer, Municipality of Karlovo.
- The Community Forum approach in formulating and implementation of local policies on cultural and historical heritage of the municipalities of Smolyan and Zlatograd;
- Youth policies in the small municipalities - Gurkovo, Nikolaevo and Maglizh; and
- The work of the Community council in the mayoralty of Kalofer, Municipality of Karlovo.
In the second part of the meeting the NGO resource site ngo.flgr.bg (only in Bulgarian) was presented - a place to present an NGO, to look for partners, to look for helpful editions in the online library, to discuss hot topics in the online forum etc.
The project "NGOs - reliable partners for development" is funded by Operational programme Administrative Capacity and co-funded by the European Social Fund.
