The municipality of Montana is known by its well-maintained parks and gardens. The city's downtown is a walking area decorated by vast green areas, many fountains, monuments and old trees. The reconstruction of the central garden changed the look of the city and improved the access of people with disabilities to public areas. The construction of an underground industrial water irrigation system reduced the maintenance costs for the central garden and terminated the use of drinking water for this purpose.

Dobrich town municipality is the only Bulgarian municipality, which elaborated and in the moment implements Program for realization of public utilities enterprises on objects municipal property, with the participation of the citizens of Dobrich. In the elaboration of the program the municipal administration attended the idea to create real preconditions for civil community formation, and together with the implementation of the mechanism of public-private partnership citizens to take part in the construction and supporting of the public spaces parks, gardens, pavements, squares and others by their own means /as co-financing/ or with their labor.

The program has been accepted by the Municipal counsel of Dobrich town municipality with a Resolution in January, 2005.

During the period September 2000 - September 2004 22 children's playgrounds were constructed in Mezdra Municipality: 4 in the villages of Krapets, Moravitsa, Rebarkovo and Lik, 17 in the neighborhoods of the city of Mezdra and 1 in the city park, in the Health Alley. The playgrounds were funded by the municipal budget /over 18,000 BGN/ and constructed with the support of the staff of the Municipal Enterprise Cleanness, involving participation of workers under the national programme From Social Assistance Towards Jobs Creation. After being constructed the playgrounds were left to the neighborhoods and villages for maintenance.

The Municipality of Silistra in cooperation with the citizens of Iztok District, the Bulgarian Women's Union - Silistra and "Ekaterina Karavelova" Club have developed and implemented together a beautification project including repair of a children's playground, construction of a car park and a sports field and public recreation sites.

Vratsa Municipality ran a pilot project for the preparation and implementation of a municipal plan in the sphere of maintenance and repair of municipal (former fourth-class) roads, which could become the basis for plan preparation in all Bulgarian municipalities. The experience gained in the course of the project was promoted through the Guidebook published by the FLGR, and a CD containing a system for the definition of priorities in the sphere of municipal road network.

Financial difficulties prevented the Municipality of Tutrakan to finish the block construction in the Vuzhodi district according to the town development plan. It was completed as part of the Danube River Initiative Program of the Foundation for Local Government Reform with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development.

The construction of the water supply network of the Village of Buzovets is an infrastructure project, part of the municipal strategy for development and realization of its program 2000-2006, which is the main management document reflecting the future development of the Municipality of Valchedrum. This socially significant project corresponds with the priorities and the vision of the municipality:
A renovated municipality, center of modern agriculture and processing industry, with improved infrastructure and environment, attracting investments for sustainable development, ensuring high level of employment, social progress and high living standard.

Borovo is a small municipality, in which each particular village strongly depends on the economics and infrastructure of the region. The project Building of supportive anti-erosion facility in the village of Obretnik started in March 2000. It was part of Danube Initiative program implemented by the Foundation for Local Government Reform and the US Agency for International Development. The idea for this project emerged as a result of the interaction of local authorities with the mixed population of Roma, Turks and Bulgarians, living in this part of the village.
