The economic forum and the trade fair in Sofia, organized by the municipalities of Sofia, Skopje and Nis with the support of the East-West Institute, expanded the process of regional economic cooperation and brought forward the idea of establishing an Euro-region of the border areas of the three countries.

The setting up of the Municipal Development Center was a proof of the capacity of municipal administration, business representatives, and citizens to offer ideas and seek the services of the Center; and on another hand of the possibilities of the Center staff to put those ideas to practice and to respond to the requirements of the day. Expanding the professional skills and knowledge of the Center s team, as well as generating new ideas and attracting outside experts is an necessary condition for the Center s development.
