Children s Day Center was born as a concept in discussions about children s leisure time. Theinitiative was taken by the Culture Cented supported by Volivodovo mayor. A team of experts was attracted to develop a project proposal application before the United Netherlands foundations.

The practice was implemented in two stages:

1. Reconstruction activities

2. Implementing program activities

The first stage was implemented by a subcontractor following a bidding procedure according to the Public Procurement Law. On the incentive of the village mayor all active citizens gathered to do some volunteer work on the building. In 4 months the site was entirely renovated. Conditions were created for Voivodo children, who go to school to Misia, to have their own premises. They have now the possibility to preserve their cultural heritage and unique traditions of former Czech and Slovak settlers who came over 50 years ago to the Ihtiman and Kiustendil regions.

On 18 December 2002 the Center opened its doors with a celebration. Everybody felt satisfaction with the result of their work.
