The "With Tundzha in the heart" platform unites the efforts of the local community in the 44 settlements of the municipality to solve important public issues through partnerships and positive constructive dialogue. It encourages and supports the involvement of local structures, organizations and business representatives in initiatives that provide for tangible and lasting change in the living conditions.

The project supported the development of civil society in mixed ethnical regions by mobilizing four school communities to reduce instances of ethnic discriminatory behavior and human rights abuse in the educational system. A new approach - “educational theatre” - was developed. Teachers from the corresponding schools applied it in four ethnically isolated schools in the Municipalities of Silistra, Sitovo and Ihtiman. Its application had a positive impact on students, their parents, teachers and institutional representatives and made them realize the consequences of the different forms of discrimination, including on ethnic grounds.

Higher number of officials and people exercising their right of access to information are aware of the standards set forth by the Convention and of the APIA amendments with regard to the implementation of the law. The law provides for the opportunity for citizens to form their own opinion about the government, to take part in the decision making process with regard to public matters, to be informed and control government activities. The law provides for the obligation that government is respectable, open, accountable and efficient.

In the framework of the two trainings, the BHC trained 62 participants lawyers, prosecutors, an investigating police officer, journalists, human rights activists. The participants were trained how to offer more effective protection against violations of the right to freedom of expression and protection from torture and other inhumane and degrading treatment and punishment; to advocate more effectively for the protection of these standards through public speech; and to counteract violations of these rights.
