Ruse Catholic Organization “Caritas”

Project duration: March 2009 – July 2010

Project budget: 33,091.68 Euro

Integrated interest clubs were established under the project and children with and without disabilities participated in them on equal basis. Specialists with professions interesting to the children were invited to become leaders of the clubs. The team included not only Caritas employees, but other people as well, which brought considerable variety to the activities. Some of these people were representatives of public and cultural institutions, which resulted in the involvement of the institutions in the activity.

The project was orientated towards students, teachers, parents and representatives of institutions. The main group consisted of sixteen youths but during project implementation more of their classmates, parents and teachersjoined to this group. 1400 spectators also became   adherents of the  appeal for nonviolence at schools. The youth parliament in the city of Dimitrovgrad was trained after the method “peer education”. The mayor of Topolovgrad supported financially the meeting between the Group for nonviolence and the youth association “Just friends”, with whom we continue the joint initiatives.The mayor of Dimitrovgrad also supported the project through arranging a meeting with youths and representatives of institutions and distribution of posters and appeals for nonviolence.
