On June 12, 2006, the Mayor of Sofia Mr. Boyko Borissov and the US Ambassador in Bulgaria H.E. John Beyerly opened Customers Service Centers in Sofia. The Centers operate as one-stop shop and deliver a wide range of administrative services and information to citizens. The FLGR representatives Mrs. Ginka Kapitanova, Executive Director, Mr. Todor Mladenov, Subgrant Programs Team Leader, and Mrs. Vassilka Sirachevska, Program Coordinator, took part at the opening ceremony.
The Improving Administrative Services in Sofia Municipality Project was implemented within 5 months by the Sofia Municipality and the Management Council of Sofia Privatizing Fund with the financial support of US Agency for International Development and the technical assistance of Foundation for Local Government Reform (FLGR).
The project implementation began after a meeting carried out between the Mayor Mr. Borissov and Mr. John Beyerly. At the opening ceremony Mr. Beyerly reminded that the project aims at limiting barriers for citizens, as well as limiting opportunities for corruption. Mr . Borissov thanked the US Ambassador for support provided and shared his desire to replicate the project in the rest of Sofia Administrative Districts till the end of current year.
The project goal is to develop and introduce new method for exchanging documents and information on-line between Sofia Municipality and three Sofia Administrative Districts Vazrazhdane, Studentski and Mladost. In the process of work Sofia Municipality suggested to join another two districts Sredetz and Oborishte.
