2011/04: Selected service for citizen monitoring - Kyustendil

On April 19, 2011 in the Municipality of Kyustendil public discussion was held whose purpose was to determine a significant public service (provided by the municipality) to be monitored by citizens.

The meeting was opened by the Mayor, Mr Peter Paunov. Zdravko Sechkov, FLGR Executive Director, presented the "Citizen Monitoring towards Effective Management of Public Resources" Project, sponsored by the America for Bulgaria within its framework the public consultation was conducted.

The results of meetings with various civic groups in the municipality were presented as well as examples of tools for monitoring public services by citizens.

Discussion focused on services such as green areas maintenance, public transport and provision of administrative services. After voting the participants chose for citizen monitoring the area of green areas maintenance.

The next step in the project carrying out are the elaboration of methodology for monitoring and training of volunteers who will join the six-month observation.









Municipalities of Kyustendil, Gotse Delchev and Knezha partner FLGR in the realization of the project.
