Youth Initiatives

The football tournament for youths Julian Manzarov was included in the official calendar of UEFA. Negotiations for the second edition of the tournament in memory of tragically died in Lim river young football player from Academic Svishtov are conducted in order to be carried out under the aegis of the European football central. The competition will be held in July, and is expected from the youth s teams to create many European stars.

Students from Svishtov received the prize Good heart at the Seventh rewards of MM television for their song Our children, dedicated to Svishtov students who died in Lim river. This reward is bestowed for a first time.

A TV show was developed to announce the needs of the children and the youth and to involve them in the decision-making process on issues that concern them. The point of view presented in the show is that of the youth ombudsman who consolidates the will and the efforts of the institutions, families, civil society and the media in Razgrad.

For the fifth consecutive year, students in the municipality of Mezdra took part in a unique effort to improve public works in the town and the villages. 141 young people were involved in: paving streets, replacing curbs and sidewalks, cleaning shoulders and drainage ditches, reconstructing the stadium, pouring slabs and sidewalks and constructing infrastructure facilities in the largest village in the municipality, Zverino. This year for the first time the students efforts ended with a streetball competition of 6 student teams from the country and abroad.

As part of the International Earth Day campaign, on April 22, 2005 the young people in the town of Boichinovtsi reconstructed and landscaped a playground in the downtown area. The initiative was organized and implemented by the Future for Boichinovtsi Youth Association with the support of mayor, Stefcho Georgiev.

Two youth organizations from Bulgaria and Macedonia established contact via Internet and shared basic priorities and possible joint actions in solving environmental issues and strengthening peace on the Balkans. The organizations became ambassadors of a peaceful world, void of violence and ethnic prejudice. The project meets the need for expanding young people's knowledge of environment and environmental preservation on the Balkans.

Establishing tourist sections in schools and kindergartens is a mass practice before 1989. Afterwards many of the sections are closed and nowadays they could hardly be found somewhere.

The demonstration was hold in memory of Alexandra Gegova a victim of the icy waters of the Lim river, Serbia/Cherna gora. The participants aimed, showing their skills to attract the attention and the interest of those willing to devote to the secrets of this ancient sport. The demonstration met aikido clubs from the whole country in Svishtov.
