Partnership Meeting

On April 22, 2013 in Sofia FLGR presented to guests from Serbia details on the implementation of the project "Citizen Monitoring towards Effective Management of Public Resources".

The Partnership Meeting was part of a study tour in Bulgaria in the framework of the project of Timok Club and Society "Knowledge" Lovech "Neighborhood Watch, which replicates the FLGR project.

The general objective of the project is to develop replicable and sustainable mechanisms for NGOs to provide greater transparency of local authorities in three municipalities in South Serbia and to strengthen regional cooperation between Serbian and Bulgarian NGOs in the field of capacity building for monitoring and evaluation of public services.

Specific project objectives are to:

1. Establish effective and applicable in other municipalities models for monitoring at local level;

2. Increase public awareness of the effect of citizen monitoring and oversight of public services at local level;

3. Improvement of regional cooperation and the creation of a new partnership between the Serbian and Bulgarian NGOs in the field of public control.

At the meeting the guests activly participated tendiscussion. Many similarities were found between the relations of local NGOs and local authorities in Serbia and Bulgaria. The participants noted that pilot project is carried out as a Bulgarian good practice.

Representatives of FLGR, in their turn, reminded that the idea of the project came from practice of the municipality of Brasov, Romania.
